- led the implementation of a user identity management solution for personalized TV services.- managed Motorola's research partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology, leading to the development of new software platforms for interactive TV applications. - developed the system concept and prototype for a new TV-related business opportunity.

- developed an overall strategic framework for coordinating Motorola's human interaction research and acted as an advocate for the adoption of next generation intelligent UI technology within the corporation as a whole;- developed and managed software development processes within the Center for Human Interaction Research across teams in Chicago, Phoenix and Shanghai; also coordinated research software development with a productization effort undertaken by Motorola's Global Software Group in India.- led exploratory research in areas on the fringe of the organization's nearer-term research efforts, notably in context management based on semantic modeling, embodied conversational agents, and task modeling. As part of the latter effort I also contributed to the development of the Consumer Electronics Association "Task Model Description" standard CEA-2018.

I led a remote research team focused on tactile and multimodal user interaction technology, including handwriting recognition, integration of voice recognition and touch interaction, haptics and context sensing for mobile handsets.

After a one-year secondment to Motorola Corporate Research Labs in Chicago, I returned to Sydney to lead the Speech Technology Research Lab, and developed a strategy focused on new methods for adapting speech recognition systems to individual speaker characteristics.

Initially hired to pursue speech recognition research, I ended up leading a research team developing scalable-rate digital speech compression algorithms for mobile telephony.
