A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (Newfoundland, Canada) I started dreaming of a life in code. In 1995 I began with an idea to build websites for local businesses in the early days of the internet. Although not everyone understood my vision, one local car dealership actually told me “No one will ever sell cars on the internet”, I guess he was just a little wrong!My knowledge and experience expanded by developing many business web applications, working on Canadian government contracts, and even a dynamic voice-automated control system in the lumber industry. My focus then turned to the event industry, specifically in registration. I started as a developer and over 10 years my role progressed into the VP of Business Development providing me with a unique perspective as both a programmer and as a leader. After many years developing in an ASP.Net environment I was inspired to expand my knowledge base further and begin programming with Ruby on Rails. The one thing that has always remained the same throughout my career is the need to always be forward-thinking, developing a solid foundation that one can build and add onto applies both in life and in programming.
