Keeping all the previous responsibilities and workload, I was now responsible for 3 companies within the holding company, even though still primarily focused on the technical and software development, but now within the entire group. These companies included the development consultancy, our events management company and a company offering mobile app marketing services.

I was responsible for managing our entire software development consultancy, which had numerous clients and has won numerous awards over my tenure.These included TU1Check (TransUnion Auto), PPC Cement, ACSA (Airports Company of South Africa), Starbucks Rewards, FirstCheck, BankServ, AA, etc. We also did a number of smaller apps for Banking, Insurance and Loyalty programs. Over and above this, we supported a number of internal business where we developed a range of custom call center solutions (for the Virtual Contact Centre), Event Management solutions (for ExperienceIT) and various WASP services (Shortcodes, SMS campaigns, USSD, etc).In this role, I reported directly to the CEO and was invited to EXCO to represent this part of the business.

After just a year, I had the opportunity to take over as the Head of Department and take our software development offering to the next level. I introduced more and more skills into the business, grew the revenue, grew the development team, started managing customers directly, and even managed our outsourced vendors for overflow projects.

I started at DSG (primarily a .NET house at the time) and introduced a number of new technologies that were better suited to the purpose. This was the foundation for me to grow further within the organization in the years to come.

Originally I started here as an Android Developer, translating Bhyve's custom rapid application development framework to work on Android. It went well and I quickly became involved in various different aspects of the business. Soon I was working on multiple projects, including some of the other app clients (like Symbian and BlackBerry), and even on the back-end web infrastructure.When we were later bought out by Marketel (during my employment here), I also helped them with a re-write of the Vodacom Fax2Email application, worked on ShuffleUpPoker and some other websites.

The Monash Robotics club was for the 'creme de la creme' of the Monash South Africa IT Students. Although this was not considered as a formal course offered by the university, the club was fully funded and endorsed by the University throughout it's existence.We helped Monash to gain new prospective students by showing off interesting and cool projects that we had been working on throughout the year. I started this club and ran it for 2 years during my studies.

I saw a opportunity for a computer hardware reseller during my studies at Monash University (as most of the students were exchange students with little or no transport.) So I decided to start my own little business. As the business grew, I also offered some basic web development services.
