Web Developer/Designer
Amatica started life as education CD-Rom house 'CDSports' and changed its name and company focus a couple of times; I was with them from the start as a core member of the production team and gained a very broad collection of skills along the way.I worked alongside developers to create websites and web-based business systems. I was responsible for administration and support of junior development staff. My sales support role included client liaison, project specification, analysis and content planning. Primary technical and design specification of web developments, including wireframing, bid support visualisations, navigational structure and interactivity design. Other roles included assistant webmaster, hardware technician.Clients included: Merseyside Police, Birmingham Midshires, Deutsche Bank, NHS Direct, Pilkington, Mobil, Bank of Scotland, Hume Capital, Hansa Group, Parker Aerospace, and Sky, along with a host of smaller SME and public sector clients.I was also involved in the design of Harbour: suitability assessment software for the financial services industry.
Web Developer/Designer
I taught myself HTML and authored our first websites, they looked lovely in Mosaic!I used ASP and SQL Server to create micro CMS systems for clients like Birmingham Midshires. These systems went on to form the root of some of Amatica's later core business systems, including their in-house CMS, Proximity.A major focus in this period was multimedia kiosks, providing an early exposure to design for touch-screen devices; as well as designing front-end interfaces, I worked on the back-end systems for the nationwide rollout of kiosks for NHS Direct.
Multimedia Author & Content Creator
I was originally employed to illustrate and help design CDSport's flagship product 'Essential Steps to Swimming' but I ended up in a hybrid development role - building the BBC Acorn version of the software using the multimedia authoring package Genesis, then moving over to Toolbook & Macromedia Director to help author further educational products on the PC.
