Reward And Information Systems ManagerUniversity Of Huddersfield Mar 2009 - Jun 2013Responsible for a multi-disciplinary team of 4 payroll and pension staff processing a £60m per annum monthly payroll and a web developer to support and enhance HR systems. I project managed the selection and implementation of MidlandHR’s iTrent HR and payroll integrated system, and delivered it on-time and on budget against an aggressive 9 month timescale. The project received praise for its continuous user engagement, thorough EU tender and selection process, effective approach to project management and requirements analysis, and a unique approach to implementation.I implemented business intelligence solutions across the whole range of HR data using SQL Server based technologies to integrate systems, and apply Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes to disparate data sources which automatically fed a data warehouse. This unique system drove all HR management information. It delivered dashboards containing key HR performance indicators, a real-time web based single view of employee data which reduced the time taken to answer queries by 70%, and underpinned operational reports, pension returns, the HESA return and other nationwide benchmarking surveys such as DLA. I also developed organisation wide 3 year salary modelling tools which supported annual staff planning rounds and research bids. An in-depth understanding of public sector pension schemes combined with my friendly and approachable style won me many repeat visits from employees, who valued my excellent customer service and ability to make pensions easy to understand. I also presented pension information at internal seminars to a range of different audiences. -
Information Systems OfficerUniversity Of Huddersfield Oct 2004 - Mar 2009HuddersfieldResponsible for administering and enhancing the HR and payroll systems to support HR strategy. The 1,000+ hourly paid casual staff base was absorbing significant HR resources, and changes in employment law regarding umbrella contracts meant we needed to improve our processes. I created an innovative web based system with a SQL database backend which improved efficiency by devolving this process across 120 users, and handled £1.2m/annum payments across 30,000 work schedules. The system was highly load tested, it handled increments and back dated pay increases, and was built with an expandable structure. It has been in use for over 7 years now.I was the technical lead during the implementation of new payroll systems in 2007 (Bond Payrite) and 2005 (Ceridian CPS), and was instrumental in delivering systems integration to other HR systems along with all data cleansing and loading.I was promoted to this role following my recommendations to senior staff for improvements to the then separate and static personnel and staff development websites. I converted these into a single database driven website supported by a content management system which provided devolved administration of over 200 policies, a self-maintaining current jobs and staff development courses section, and an easily updateable A-Z index. -
