Training Specialist Ii
CurrentAs a member of the Iowa Workforce Development Training Bureau, I developed and implemented training for 1,200 statewide staff on new employee onboarding, agency policies, HR compliance, program tutorials, and customer service. My role included teaching in-person and virtual trainings and creating self-paced eLearning coursework. I spearheaded efforts to streamline and standardize internal training processes, developing standards, templates, and workflows for eLearning courses, job aids, and microlearning videos. I also reviewed colleagues' work, providing detailed feedback and coaching to optimize training deliverables. One of my first projects was developing a series of equity and customer service courses for the Unemployment Insurance Division. I designed and created four comprehensive eLearning courses focused on customer diversity and representation, language access services, technology access services, and customer service skills. Additionally, I crafted a 90-minute instructor-led training titled "Customers First Commitment," which introduced a new vision for the division's approach to customer service. This classroom-style training included large-group discussions, small group activities, and scenario-based roleplaying activities, enhancing the overall customer service experience and ensuring equitable access to our services. All 200 division employees completed the course. In this position, I am also responsible for developing a comprehensive leadership curriculum tailored for all staff members. This initiative included the successful launch of the LEAD IWD pilot program, a 12-week instructor-led program aimed to enhance change management skills and foster leadership growth among participates. Additionally, I manage and maintain our LinkedIn Learning subscriptions, as well as curate and distribute the monthly “LinkedIn Learning @ IWD” newsletter which offers course recommendations aligned with agency-adopted leadership competencies.
