Mark Cross, currently the superintendent of schools at Cass School District 63 in Darien, Illinois, has 29 years of experience as an educator, including the previous 15 years as superintendent of Peru Elementary School District 124. He previously served as superintendent at Spring Valley Elementary District 99 for two years and prior to that was an assistant regional superintendent, high school principal and high school teacher and coach.Mark earned his bachelors and masters degrees, as well as his superintendent and chief school business official endorsements from Illinois State University. In addition to his work as superintendent of Peru Schools, he occasionally serves adjunct faculty member in the educational leadership programs Aurora University and the University of St. Francis.Mark has made numerous presentations related to school finance and business management, as well as long-term facility planning. Working cooperatively with the Board of Education, community and city leaders, Mark led Peru ESD 124 through the successful planning, design and funding of Parkside Middle School, a $19.5 million state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2009. He followed this with working with the Board, staff and community in the planning, design and construction of a $12 million addition and renovation project at Northview Elementary School, which was completed and opened in 2015.
