At ICANN I am primarily responsible for Salesforce Architecture, integrations, best practices, and code development for one of our two Salesforce implementations. I am implementing a dev ops program utilizing SFDX, Github and Jenkins to handle code progression through dev/test/UAT/prod environments. I am also creating multiple unlocked packages to promote code sharing between orgs, ensure code consistency/efficiency, and achieve feature separation to more effectively use scratch orgs and SFDX. I am also spearheading the rollout of enterprise design patterns and the Financial Force Common Library to ensure scalable, testable and reliable apex code. Future planned work includes queue integration with Kafka, integrations with monitoring and logging systems and implementing new standards for documentation, change control, and code quality.

At ACT I was a hands-on Tech Lead for a Salesforce implementation that had ~ 10,000 users utilizing Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, Community Cloud, and 10+ external systems connected via REST/SOAP APIs and OData. My code responsibilities included creating Lightning (Aura and Web) Components, writing APEX classes and triggers, working with multiple external APIs, working with a CTI adapter, configuring in/outbound SSO, and performing declarative work as necessary. My non-code responsibilities included architecture design, code reviews, source control/deployment management, troubleshooting any difficult coding requirements, mentoring junior developers, and participating in a large Scrum/Agile deployment involving 25+ Scrum teams and bi-monthly planning events.

In addition to being the founding CEO and leader of TotalABA through its "startup" years, the majority of my time at TotalABA was spent acting as the lead developer and architect for our Salesforce AppExchange application. I wrote most of the Lightning Components, Apex and API-based code in this rather large application (100+ custom objects), and took the lead on any tough issues requiring creative solutions. I was hands-on through the contracting, security review and AppExchange deployment processes, and set up our managed packages, ISV portal, and HL7 integrations. On the executive side, I was responsible for partnerships, fund-raising, public relations and general operations. After a successful sale of the company in early 2018 I remained on the board of directors and continued to provide technical leadership for a period of time.

Led the transition of many systems from physical servers based in colocation facilities to “the cloud”. Created implementations in Amazon EC2, Azure/Team Foundation Services, Office 365 and Salesforce to lower our reliance on internally managed hardware, while maintaining appropriate levels of security and control.Brought Agile and Scrum software development methodologies into our development processes. This has resulted in a development cycle that is more organized, more easily predictable/estimable, has greater customer input, and has helped us to manage risk better.Created a disaster recovery plan to conform to industry standards, customer needs, and compliance requirements. Transitioned our primary data center from one hosting facility to another, saving thousands of dollars monthly, and giving us more room to grow. Redesigned the network and infrastructure in the process to give us at least N+1 redundancy on all systems.Virtualized our internal corporate and development server environments using VM Ware. This reduced total system costs by over 50%, and gave us the flexibility and agility to respond quickly to changing technology needs.Implemented Microsoft Team Foundation Server, and subsequently Team Foundation Services for advanced handing of source control, versioning, and testing using Scrum development methodologies. Integrated this into development, Q/A, and customer service departments so that bug tracking and feature requests can be directly tied to code changes and product updates.

Created performance measuring software and server monitoring system to ensure adherence to customer SLAs and pleasant user experiences. Researched and led project to convert our software from older ASP/COM+ technologies to Visual Studio .NETInterviewed, selected and managed on-site consultants that assisted with code development and server/network building and maintenance.Implemented source control (SourceSafe) and backup procedures to ensure no loss of work.Established documentation and specification standards, ensuring all features were completely documented and performed to specification.

Created initial architecture code and common services including data layer, security/logins, and transactions.Designed initial server configuration.Led the effort of taking conceptual specifications and turning them into code.Designed initial user interface for our web product.

Designed and created new “pricer” program to calculate prices for mailing list services provided by our company using a very complex set of rules.Designed and created the company’s first web-based reporting server, allowing users to design, save, and run reports against internal data sources.Created accounting “breakout” system which took sales orders and broke out the revenues into many accounting buckets used for tracking salesperson and departmental performance and determining commissions and bonuses.Co-created the first company-wide intranet that was used to share information between and within departments. Participated in company-wide “Y2K” project to ensure that all corporate systems would perform correctly when the date rolled over from 1999 to 2000.
