I’m a commercially focussed manager, with a bias for sustainable solutions. I‘ve achieved this as a Commercial Mgr and as a Product Mgr, and I’ve formulated robust commercial solutions with partner organisations such as TomTom, Apple, and Nokia.Until recently I was the Commercial Mgr of Location Navigation Ltd (a subsidiary of Sensis) managing the commercialisation of digital mapping and business listing data products.In this role I led the team of Product Mgrs to identify the product road map, and delivered detailed financial modelling.Through these activities the business has generated over AU$300M during my tenure, with an EBITDA well above the industry norm.I have also developed the commercial agreements for the business, and this has enabled me to adopt a creative approach to finding new business solutions.It is this creative approach to identifying sustainable business solutions that I find rewarding; and I strongly believe in the importance of both a great product, and a solid commercial model, to provide a sustainable solution.My approach to problems is to try to view situations from the viewpoint of all parties. My colleagues will testify that I will regularly review strategies or proposals with the phrase “playing devil’s advocate”, and use this to really test the robustness of a proposal.I have also used this approach in contract negotiations to appreciate 3rd parties position, and in my 9 years with Location Navigation we had no contractual disputes with partners. I’d view myself as strongly team oriented, and writing this summary in the first person is not something that comes naturally. I also like to instil a good sense of dry humour into the workplace, as I find this often allows for a more open dialogue.I have an MBA from Henley Business School, and an MSc and B.Tech (hons) from Loughborough University.Specialities: Licensing Agreements, Commercial Modelling, and the Simplification of problems to their core issues.
