My role was to facilitate and coordinate employment support across the East Midlands and East of England for Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) Service personnel to help them find appropriate and sustainable civilian employment and build a second career.I was also the locally embedded member of Recovery Career Services (RCS) working alongside a team of military and civilian staff who are assisting WIS service personnel through their individual recovery plans.I developed new partner leads, introducing organisations to our services, resulting in employment, development and training opportunities for service leaver clients. In 2013 I initiated, developed and completed a charity cycle ride of over 2000kms, raising circa £130,000 for service charities, for specific initiatives for WIS service leavers and veterans.

The REME Association Job Agency (RAJA) exists to assist Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) service leavers to find second career opportunities on completion of service. Membership of RAJA totals c. 450 people of all ranks with a diverse range of experience, skills and qualifications.• Improved future career opportunities for REME officers and soldiers through networking and marketing the technical skills, knowledge and versatility of the army’s engineering leaders and tradesmen. • Established the agency as a supplier of choice to a number of organisations that receives a high number of recommendations with a reputation for providing high quality candidates.• Co-ordinated a highly successful visit of c.20 potential employers to the Headquarters of REME for an insight into REME, their role in engineering and the qualities of REME engineers resulting in immediate advertisement of vacancies from companies that attended.• Organised future career events for service leavers including a future careers seminar for a major national organisation that led to REME soldiers applying for positions and being called to interview.• Facilitated various employment support events including business start up training, self-awareness coaching and insight days into different engineering sectors.• Significantly increased the number of civilian organisations advertising vacancies through the agency that include international, national and local businesses.• Regular liaison with REME Corps welfare staff to assist with resettlement of wounded in service and other personnel awaiting medical discharge.• Created a social networking group with the aim to allow service leavers to share resettlement information and advice; the group has over 1500 members.• Organised and completed a 630 miles cycle ride and associated dinner night in aid of Various charities including ABF The Soldiers Charity and Great Britain Diasabled Football, raising circa £20,000

Senior subject matter expert in the management team co-ordinating maintenance support in a large workshop of 100+ people, also providing engineering advice to superiors, team members and external organisations. • Ensured compliance with government and local regulations throughout all departments, managing engineering standards through internal audit and supervisory checks.• Created a training matrix using Microsoft Excel that encompassed all aspects of technical competence and training in one document that was subsequently used throughout the organisation.• Led in planning the engineering training and development of junior tradesmen, ensuring the correct levels of competence were retained throughout all departments and planned for in the future.• Efficiently managed the maintenance support to external customers, meeting their needs within, sometimes very tight, timescales, often in demanding conditions.• Mentored junior management staff in the management of their teams and resources.• Coordinated the move of freight, personnel and vehicles from existing facilities to a brand new facility in a different part of the country and established the organisation in the new working environment.• Oversaw the back loading of vehicles and equipment from Iraq to the UK during the drawdown of operations, ensuring prescribed output standards were met; liaised with project teams in the UK to resolve problems that arose during the process.• Planned and organised three 24 hour rehabilitation programmes for approximately 120 tracked and wheeled vehicles during a long training exercise in Canada.• Supervised the management of a fleet of circa 50 tracked and wheeled vehicles.

Technical advisor to the head of the organisation, civilian workforce and military staff and provision of training to part time military staff.• Technical line manager to the civilian vehicle maintainers (9 people) across five sites, providing a link between them and other repair agents and equipment project teams.• Compiled the workshop engineering management system comprising of work instructions, administrative procedures, roles and responsibilities and the internal audit process and programme.• Ensured safe working practices were followed and health and safety regulations adhered to in all locations.• Carried out internal inspection of the organisations procedures regarding transport management and health and safety.• Planned, facilitated and managed technical and military training for up to 35 Territorial Army (TA) soldiers over numerous weekends, training evenings and annual training camps.• Identified training requirements for all TA soldiers and implemented individual training plans and records.• Managed the TA training budget for the workshop personnel.• Career management of all TA soldiers including appraisal report writing.

Managed a repair facility of c.40 tradesmen responsible for maintaining a fleet of over 300 vehicles and trailers.• Planned preventive and routine maintenance, repairs and modifications to the vehicle fleet.• Implemented a new strategy of work that significantly increased the availability of roadworthy vehicles and improved routine maintenance completion times.• Liaised daily with transport managers to ensure, as the customer, that their vehicle requirements were met.• Devised a successful solution to a routine maintenance problem that was causing significant availability difficulties thus meeting a tight deadline that would have been missed.• Identified technical training requirements and implemented training records for all junior tradesmen in the workshop.• Developed the workshop engineering management system including technical work instructions, audit programmes and technical competence records.• Organised a variety of fundraising events for a Children's Cancer Charity, raising circa £10,000

Led a team of 10 men in support of a fleet of 17 Armoured fighting vehicles and a range of weapon systems.• Planned all maintenance for the fleet, balancing the needs of the customer with the maintenance requirements.• Implemented a new inspection regime that decreased the time taken to carry out mandatory inspections that was subsequently used by all teams in the workshop.• Led the team during war fighting operations in Iraq, motivating them to perform beyond expectations in the most testing of conditions, achieving the best and most consistent vehicle availability in the Regiment.• Wrote post exercise reports that enabled us to reflect on events and improve as a team.• Produced technical reports for the fleet and appraisal reports for the team.
