SummaryI’ve worked in technology since 1982 and worn many hats – sales, operations, management and accounting. Throughout my career, I’ve augmented my work by programming management information systems that provided me with quicker access to the data I needed. It's critical to have organized information at one's fingertips.In 2008, I came across legislation that was going to change the landscape of the Pennsylvania tax system. This legislation would transform the method by which earned income taxes would be collected and distributed. My gut instinct was that this new process had serious flaws. Subsequent discussions with tax professionals in my network proved me right. But surprisingly, this is not a regional issue; it’s a national issue. And in today’s economy, with cities and towns going bankrupt on a regular basis, a solution is needed – and quickly.In 2010, I developed a working model of what the next generation of tax collection should look like. This system works and it incorporates some structural changes that should be in place in America today. Its unique algorithms provide automatic discovery of those that try to avoid paying taxes. Above all, it transfers the accountability and information to those that were hired to perform these tasks. In 2016, we went off on our own and since then have identified over $13 billion dollars of untaxed revenue. Our software is cloud-based, table driven and will work anywhere in the country. I’m re-engineering the tax collection and distribution process in America. Through exhaustive discussions, research and hands-on experience I’ve identified the primary problem. It is not as much about technology as it is communication and cooperation.
