I love helping people and businesses (my company and our customers) grow. The things that best define and are most important to me professionally are constant learning and improvement, the development I've enabled in the people who have worked with and for me, and the success of the companies I have worked for. My constant theme is growth--personal, team, and organization. I thrive in challenging environments that require hard work and adaptability.I've worked for a Fortune 50 and a Fortune 500 company and was among the "first two dozen" employees for 5 startups. Of these, 2 became successful public companies, while the other 3 were acquired. These experiences gave me the opportunity to work closely with brilliant, visionary people who created companies like HubSpot and Lotus Notes and invented the technology behind LASIK. I've contributed to scaling these companies in a variety of ways but mostly by having a can-do, get (it) done team attitude, and a sense of humor about it all. Again, I'm not responsible for the success of these companies but have been a creator, builder, and lever helping them scale. In my career I've worked in the power generation, high-energy physics, manufacturing, financial services, and software industries, in roles from R&D to content development to business development. To some it may appear a crooked path but it makes perfect sense to me as an engineer—it’s all just a different problem. These experiences have enabled me to reach more of my own potential while contributing to the growth of the companies where I've worked. At each turn, new things to learn, new challenges to face, new problems to solve, new ways to apply lessons I've brought with me. This broad experience has all been focused toward my current role at HubSpot. I’ve been helping my colleagues grow, and companies find the right software solution for almost 3 decades. I now work with companies in disparate industries, with all types of business and organizational challenges and goals. It’s gratifying.
