Starting with a team of 5 Embedded Software Engineers, we now have 20 people from 5 disciplines working in 3 teams across 3 countries. This includes 2 full-time Product Owners and a full-time Scrum Master. We collaborate with and within various Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to achieve the best possible results for the end customer.I spent a year acting as @fitatlely_ambassador on Instagram, promoting healthy physical and mental habits. Mixing in some “#funatlely” activities like co-hosting jam sessions, playing chess and popping balloons to promote fun and creativity as a means to boost innovation and effectiveness.

The Product owner is responsible for the Development and Maintenance of the entire Rhodium AMCS suite. Formulating the Product Roadmap in close collaboration with Project Managers, Clients (OEMs), stakeholders and end-users in order to create a next-gen automation system scalable from Leisure Boats to Super Yachts and Navy Vessels. Breaking the Roadmap down with the Development Team whilst keeping the focus on value and quality.During this time I turned RH Marine’s “Lunch Learning” sessions hybrid, so my team could enjoy them from our satellite office, hosted prioritization workshops with Project Management, and brought the Product and Project teams together weekly to improve the tooling we made for them. A highlight was getting all our customers, including end users, together to inspect our progress on the product we were building for them, only to find out we’d been building the wrong thing for six months.

This includes an embedded linux application, Windows CE 6.0 application, Android app, VPN solution and many other apps and services. It also extents to improving and implementing in house tooling and development practices.

A Software Engineer for Naval Services maintains most Platform Automation and Propulsion systems for the Royal Dutch Navy. Ranging from fully Custom HMI’s on VME Bus connected Processor boards, Digital VAX/VMS systems to commercial SCADA solutions on modern PCs. Tasks involve anything from fixing bugs in RTL, C++, C#, SCADA to prescribing hardware and software installation procedures to instructing the crew how to use our systems.

The internship involved further developing a machine for manufacturing GOTCHA sensors. The GOTCHA system uses fiber optics and spectral analysis to detect trains and measure their burden on the rails. It’s also able to detect defects on wheels. This required a lens to be aligned and focused to a fibre optic cable. For the next generation of GOTCHA we developed a new sensor that uses fiber bragg gratings coupled to a CCD array and digital signal processing unit.
