In my current role I deputise for the Network Manager. I am responsible for providing technical advice and support to staff and students, and for maintaining all classroom and office based computer equipment, including laptops and some tablet devices.Additional to my main job role I manage and maintain the Cisco based wired and wireless networks. I also manage the Windows Server 2012R2 based virtualised server farm that supports Windows 7, Windows 8.1 & Windows 10 clients.I have been directly responsible for a number of developments that have had a positive impact on teaching e.g. implementing an internal web filtering and monitoring system, the implementation of the whole school wireless network, and improving an ageing server and storage infrastructure. Over the past 18 months the Academy has undertaken an £11m buildings and technology refurbishment programme, with £1m allocated to the renewal of ICT facilities. During the program I worked closely with the project managers from both the ICT and building contractors, and with any sub-contractors as needed. I had a major part in the design and implementation of the new network infrastructure and was responsible for the design of the new ‘teaching wall’ layout and the technologies used.Until recently I managed over 80 networked printers and photocopiers. As the lease on those devices was coming to an end I was one of the main drivers in changing the academy’s print strategy, moving to a “follow me printing” solution. I now manage only nine MFD devices, greatly reducing the cost to the academy in terms of management time and expenditure.

In my role as kitchen assistant my main responsibility was to maintain a supply of clean crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. My other responsibilities included maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, assisting in the nightly ‘clear down’ and during summer and winter breaks, assisting in a deep clean of the kitchen area.
