The National Political Director leads People For’s work on federal, state, and local elections across the country, including special elections, off-year, midterm, and presidential elections. The Political Director’s main duties include managing our candidate endorsement process, recommending spending allocations to support candidates and voters, tracking electoral and legislative opportunities, serving as the point of contact for current and prospective elected officials, and representing the organization at local, regional, and national coalition tables ensuring the overall success of our advocacy work to mobilize communities and cultural leaders to advance People For’s core priorities of Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

The Deputy Director for Leadership Programs supports the operation and growth of People For's programs that develop and amplify the voices of America's young changemakers, including over 1,300 members of the Young Elected Officials Network. Elected on November 8, 2016 as the youngest-ever member of the State Board of Education. Elected to a four year term, starting on January 2, 2017.The State Board of Education is responsible for advising the State Superintendent of Education on educational matters, including: state standards; state policies, including those governing special, academic, vocational, charter and other schools; state objectives; and state regulations proposed by the Mayor or the State Superintendent of Education. Former Chair of the Committee on Public Engagement and Outreach: This committee is tasked with ensuring that all voices are heard on key education policy issues. Priorities will include developing a community engagement strategy that includes diverse stakeholders and expanding the breadth of participation at SBOE community meetings, forums, and roundtables around the District.Co-Chair of the High School Graduation Requirements Task Force: With a clear focus on ensuring that all students across the District succeed in college and career, this task force will review, analyze and, as necessary, make thoughtful, implementable recommendations to adjust DC’s high school graduation requirements for all DCPS and public charter students.Elected Vice President in January 2019 and again in January 2020.

Worked in the Community Engagement Division, which promotes the work of the organization, increases membership, spearheads and executes community engagement initiatives, and helps build the capacity of our partners. The CE Divisions also led FSFSC’s Safe Summer Initiative, including over a dozen community events and a youth day camp designed to quell violence in some of DC’s most at-risk communities.

Ward specialists in the Mayor's Office of Community Relations and Services are responsible for setting in place strategies and developing activities which target the District’s community base for specific purposes, goals and objectives. The specialists attend community meetings to gather information on community input, events, issues and their impact to the District.Additionally, the Ward Liaison works directly with the community to identify, address, and permanently solve persistent problems in every ward of the District.

The Marion Barry Youth Leadership Institute (MBYLI), formerly the Mayor's Youth Leadership Institute (MYLI), run through the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services, was founded in 1979 as a year-round program to train District of Columbia youth in the concepts of leadership and self-development.Previously a Program Assistant for the Summer 2010, Summer 2011 and Summer 2012 Institutes. Assisting in the training of nearly 50 first-year participants of the six week summer institute. First year training consists of personal development, team-building and introduction to professional development.During the in-school component of the program, I am the lead organizer and trainer for the institute's Youth Government Program, a year-long intensive civic education program, available to roughly 40 participants, that emphasizes learning about city government, leadership training and issue advocacy.
