Developed and tested existing and new Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) for industry, such as air emissions monitoring for regulatory compliance and emissions measurements for gas turbine and boiler optimization controls. Developed and maintained design standards including process improvement for integrated controls, electrical, and analytical emissions monitoring systems. Interfaced with customers and end users as required. Key Achievements: - Developed components for the continuous emissions monitoring system for the analysis of mercury (Hg CEMS) and reduced costs. The improvements also made maintenance for the system easier and provided a cost savings of $12,500 for each system with a potential savings of $3,750,000.- Developed effective networking connections with consultants and customers. Worked fulltime on an engineering project sponsored by NB Power while working on a Masters in Science in Chemical Engineering. The project involved the application of advanced engineering concepts. Developed tools to calculate the boiler heat absorption efficiency of a 314 MW fossil fired power generation station. Analyzed the atomizing steam flow to the burner front. Analyzed emissions and supported technicians in emissions measurements/instrumentation. Calculated and analyzed gland seal leakage and extraction steam flow rates for the steam turbines. Developed advanced viscosity experiments to predict the viscosity of the emulsified fuel used at the power plant. Key Achievements:- Completed an MSc. In Chemical Engineering while maintaining fulltime job responsibilities at NB Power.- Completed analysis of various aspects of the plant operations and proposed cost saving measures that provided a return on the company’s investment in sponsoring a graduate student.- Developed new tools for thermal and fluid cycle efficiency analysis.- Developed an improved method for viscosity measurements for the emulsion fuels used at the power plant.- Taught the Thermodynamic and Fluid Mechanic tutorial classes for second year Mechanical and Chemical Engineering students.

Throughout my university career I held various summer and school year jobs working in environmental/R&D labs and demonstrating chemistry labs and teaching Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanic tutorial classes for second year students. I also traveled abroad and taught English in South Korea.
