I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Interdepartmental Doctoral Program in Anthropological Sciences (IDPAS) at Stony Brook University. I am working in West Turkana, Kenya with Dr. Sonia Harmand and Dr. Elisabeth Hildebrand, focusing on deep time archaeological and paleoanthropological research. I am interested in investigating the connection between biological, brain, and behavioral evolution associated with early stone tool making and the acquisition of complex and skillful behaviors. I received the National Science Foundation GRFP in 2021 to fund this research.I graduated cum laude with honors in anthropology and a minor in chemistry from Stony Brook University in 2018. I conducted my thesis research under Dr. Catherine Markham on five groups of savanna baboons in Amboseli, Kenya to measure energetic consequences associated with varying group size, various ecological factors, and sleeping in close proximity to other groups. In fall 2019, I earned an advanced graduate certificate degree in human origins from Stony Brook as part of the Turkana Basin Institute Origins Field School.I am broadly interested in cognitive evolution, museum studies, and uplifting the importance of cultural heritage and responsibility in my career.
