I am currently researching the contributions and value of local television news for media organizations. I am also involved in the early stages of a pilot project to record and share the experiences of retired CBC employees to provide insights into the work done at the public broadcaster. My past research looked at how broadcast news organizations were developing social media guidelines for employees, which I presented at a national academic conference in 2017. I also published and presented on the history of internships at CBC television news.My academic work includes teaching at York University in the fall semester since 2019. The course, "News Next: Creating News in a Platform Society" is a seminar primarily for graduating year students.I worked as a producer in the national newsroom at CBC Television for several years, working with a team that provided local shows with national and international news coverage, as well as significant local news from other cities. I worked as a writer and editor in the national newsroom for much of my career, including work on the National, News Network and Newsworld International.I am an experienced news leader with practical skills as a writer and editor, and a familiarity with the news of various social media platforms.
