Founded in Seattle by principal architect Marlo Brown, Marlo Brown Architects focuses on high-end, custom residential design, and provides full architectural services from start to finish. Marlo received her Masters of Architecture from Columbia University in 2009 and graduated with High Honors from Smith College in 2006 with a B.A. in Architecture & Urbanism. She has also studied at Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Most recently she has been featured in the Seattle Times for her major remodel and addition of a custom residence in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.

Project Architect for over $5 million in high end single family residential, annually with full stack of standard architectural services from schematic design, through permitting, through construction observation.

Producing drawing sets for schematic, design development, construction documentation, interior design, and permitting for single family residential projects ranging from work as small as an attic remodel to new construction 5,000 SF+. Also, preparing as-builts, code research for each project, site analysis, document coordination, aid in client presentations, office management, LEED certification research and implementation for new office construction, and sub contractor communication. Construction safety supervisor, OSHA 30 certified 2012.

Produced CAD and rendering client presentations for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for Medical Teams International Redmond, WA warehouse and exhibition space. Hired as a design consultant, I created images for exhibition implementation and pre-bid. Various exhibits included ceiling structure, energy efficiency, reusable display options, salvaged material research, lighting specifications, and sound design.

Assisted in project proposals, redlining, design development, materials research, photography, hand modeling, and office management for residential, commercial, and public work projects. Specifically worked on a mixed use building in Wyoming for entry and lobby details in CAD.

Assisted with client presentations for rendering, Photoshop, Illustrator drawings, schematic designs, and 3D Max animations for a large scale LEED Silver master plan for Dubailand with ARUP. Programs for the project included retail, mixed residential, infrastructure, hotels, and amenities. Prepared traffic analysis, site analysis, environmental analysis, and construction analysis. Prepared many hand models for this project as well as Ecotect analysis images, storyboards, a final client model with other interns and prepared a client model for a housing project in France.

As part of a small firm, assisted in all architectural operations including design for Women in Risk exhibition, Campus of Hope for the children of Haiti for Drake University exhibition, redlining, modeling for current and future projects, marketing and market research, casting, on site visits, and digital image editing.

Research for the 2007 exhibition of the 1957 Disney House of the Future in conjunction with the current MIT House of the Future by MIT PhD Candidate Kent Larson. Assisted with restoration and cataloging.
