Law Enforcement Officer
CurrentI currently work at Peoria Police Department in the NSU (Neighborhood Services Unit). I started off working as a patrol officer however, I felt a strong desire to be engaged with the community at a different capacity. I’ve always loved engaging with people and taking part in community outreach and this position allows me to be more involved with the community I serve. My job is to help provide resources and be the voice for the community when it comes to expressing themselves whether it’s a concern or compliment to the police on how we conduct ourselves. When taking this position, I understood the history of law enforcement would create somewhat of a challenge as I attempted to form a relationship with the community and police. The one thing I love about my position is the ability to understand the people I encounter due to things I’ve been exposed to and/or experienced while growing up which is a constant reminder “I am human”. I’m not one to be big on titles, I’m one that prefer the people needs are being met and the job gets done while treating each individual fairly.
