As a Project Manager and a dangerous goods compliance specialist, my career has been interesting and challenging. I have enjoyed the opportunity to interact with clients by providing regulatory expertise via our contracted hotline service for various large manufacturing, chemical, petroleum, and automotive sectors. For some of these clients, I have also developed and continually manage a hazardous material shipping website/database that includes client parts. My daily duties include frequent interactions with regulatory agencies as well as occasionally submitting applications for government Competent Authority approvals. To say what I enjoy most about my career is first, the interaction with the clients (both hotline service and as a Hazmat Training Instructor) and second, writing code for client websites and managing the client enterprise database that provides shipping guidance enabling them to remain in compliance with the transportation regulations. I am thankful for the past opportunities I had to manage hazardous waste at an air force base (both as an intern and an employee) and for the EPA as a contractor. As an employee of AECOM, I am also tasked with managing ISO-9001 compliance for our hazmat group and as an exciting role as a mentor to new hires.
