Product Manager
Principal Solutions Engineer
Senior Sales Engineer
Solution Architect
My role in MashTeam was to ensure our customer's have the right solution for them in order to maximize value from the technology, services and collective experience that Mashery, and more recently, Intel have to offer.
Principal Solution Architect
In December 2012 Vordel became part of the Axway family, completing the product portfolio required to "own the edge". The acquisition has been positive, following through on Vordel's strategy focusing primarily on API vitualisation and management, strengthening the sales and R&D aspect. My dual role of Architect and Solution Leader present new challenges and opportunities. Whilst day to day things remain much the same, all be it with the pro's and con's of working within a larger organisation, I now embrace the opportunity to be part of the integration of Vordel's API Gateway with MFT and B2B offerings from Axway. In addition to qualifying opportunities, I take a leading role in the majority of pre-sales engagements in North America (whilst retaining some key accounts in the EU and further afield). The range of our capabilities now extends to include API management and a developer portal, popular solutions are now centred around restful services and the ability to leverage incumbent SOA architectures to fit with the rapidly evolving world of mobile applications and delegated authentication models. There has also been a shift towards cloud brokerage (governance and control of an organisation's interactions with cloud based PaaS and SaaS, and I have become more heavily involved in our own cloud based offering on EC2. (both for customer's and as a managed service).Major achievements:Architectural design of Elastic Scaling API Gateway deployment (EC2)Co-Design and implementation of Axway's largest EC2 gateway implementation.
Security Solution Architect
Working as part of a highly skilled and versatile pre-sales team designing SOA Security Solutions using the Vordel Gateway product suite. A genuine mix of whiteboard and keyboard; from board level conversations concerning business value propositions to low-level policy design and delivery. Despite the niche of gateway products the integration challenges associated with a SOA gateway strategy have broadened and deepened my experience of a wide variety of technologies. Gateway solutions are not specific to any industry, and as a result I have been able to gain experience providing real world solutions in different sectors including Telecoms, Supply Chain, Healthcare, Government, Automotive and others.Although primarily focused on supporting sales and pre-sales, the role requires a more 'cradle to grave' approach including participation in the delivery phase as well as certain aspects of on going technical account management; feeding information between customers and the support organisation. A high level of exposure to live deployments in the field means that providing input to product management and engineering teams is key to help shape the future product roadmap. The consultative part of the role is possibly the most rewarding; evaluating, reviewing and contributing to our customers' architecture strategies; refining solution designs and their supporting processes, whilst retaining a hand-on approach during the delivery phase.Major achievements include:Architectural design and delivery of Vordel's first: $1M+ customerFirst significant REST to Messaging architecture and implementation (2004)Unique design for Maximum Concurrent Transaction ThrottlingIntroduction of policy based OAuth2.0 and SAML2.0 Web SSO.
Tecnical Architect
Technical and solution design, emerging technology research and development; responsible for design build and test of new product solutions within the Local Government and Social Housing division providing consultative support across a variety of market verticals, combined with a variety of pre and post-sales technical support.
Integration Consultant
Some architectural responsibility for a large scale enterprise project, encorporating Web Service Security, PKI, LGOLnet, and Gov Connect.Architecture, design and development of a pluggable, distributed and autonomous, enterprise wide, role based access control mechanism, and XML messaging security strategy.
Systems Integration Developer
Responsible for the design and development of cross-platform code instrumental in fusing two of Northgate's core products culminating in a major version release to the Front Office product. Involving extensive use of SQL Transactions, Java and .Net web services on a Win2k platform.
E-Business Information Engineer
Co-design, development and delivery of an internal web portal for Rolls-Royce as an interim solution whilst awaiting budgetary approval for a SAP Portal implementation.(-- Credit also to Stuart Weller, a constant inspiration and a delight to work with --)
Equipment Delivery Project Manager
Covering standard desktop applications, non-standard peripherals and applications, specialised production systemsTeam leading project co-ordinators and technical specialists, running projects varying from high impact/value factory production systems to high profile executive support single installations.Building and managing virtual teams of specialists to provide Design and Integration through Technical Integration Services to Production.Working to EDS Project Management techniques developed on PM2 and PRINCE project management standards within a rigorous Quality Management System developed by combining the Rolls-Royce quality system and the EDS Management Control Standards.Delivering infrastructure and IT solutions within a controlled architectural framework ensuring stability of service
