I am an alum of Miami University in Oxford, OH where I received my BS and MS degrees from there with a focus on public health education and health promotion.I served as a graduate assistant for Ohio’s School-Based Center of Excellence for Prevention and Early Intervention (SBCOE) in the Psychology Department at Miami. I worked with them on developing their website including design and content development using public health information, statistics, and research; and social marketing approaches (including some social media posts), among other tasks. I also have experience through working for Miami’s Rinella Learning Center, Wilks Institute of Leadership and Service, and Division of Student Life.I was the primary investigator for my Master’s thesis research on HIV/AIDS stigma in men who have sex with men from a critical pedagogy framework. Through my research, work and project experiences at Miami, I explored public health topics such as HIV, mental health, behavioral health, binge drinking, the opioid epidemic, and dental health for children.I have the skills of transparent communication, data collection and analysis (both quantitative and qualitative), IBM SPSS, teaching/instructing, resilience, time management, critical thinking, empathy, problem solving, design through Canva, survey creation, and knowledge and implementation of different health behavior change theories through my classes and experiences.I am interested in careers with organizations in public health and healthcare that tackle many different public health and medical problems such as HIV, communicable diseases, sexual health, mental health, substance use disorders, health education, and health + wellness, etc.). These include health education roles, roles for health-related entities, research assistant roles, adjunct faculty or health/wellness staff roles for colleges and universities, and any other roles within these interests.
