I help individuals navigate the complex, and sometimes daunting, issues facing them and their families throughout contested family law matters.  I strive to provide sound advice and guidance while also providing access to the resources needed both inside and out of the legal process.

Focusing primarily on property, custody, and support issues, I represent clients in all types of legal matters. I understand that family law matters create a particularly stressful time for clients and their children and I therefore take time to fully understand situations, desires and plans for the future. My clients rely on me to help them navigate the complex issues surrounding discovery, negotiations, motions and trial.

In my role as Associate Attorney, I focused on family law matters including divorce, custody, parenting time, support, paternity and property issues. I was involved with all aspects of client relations including client intake/screenings, meetings, answering questions that arise with family law matters, prepping for trial, providing sound advice to clients regarding their options and managing client expectations. In particular, I drafted motions, affidavits, briefs and memos. I created and organized client financial documents including balance sheets, budgets, etc. Furthermore, I appeared regularly at hearings, motions and trials, managing my time carefully to ensure I met all deadlines set forth.

As a Senior Staff Attorney exclusively representing low-income clients in need of legal assistance, I focused on a variety of litigation matters. My work primarily involved client consultations, negotiations, ADR, emergency hearings, motion practice and trial/evidentiary hearings. A typical caseload involved 70-90 files, with District Court appearances almost daily. In addition, I conducted discovery and independent investigations such as witness interviews and record reviews.

As a Law Clerk assisting in research and trial preparation, I examined and composed memoranda dealing with both civil and criminal client matters. I drafted documents for the court including memoranda of law, motions and briefs in support of motions. I assisted with the preparation of interrogatories, various discovery documents and document review projects. Furthermore, I was responsible for editing and formatting an arbitration casebook authored by attorney, Michael J. Pitton.

As a University of Iowa College of Law Clinic Extern, I researched and drafted memoranda on various criminal and civil matters for the Hon. Robert W. Pratt. I assisted in drafting court orders and sentencing memoranda. I observed courtroom proceedings including closed hearings, such as grand jury selection and in-chamber meetings.
