I listen to librarians, teachers and deans of technical universities and faculties and advise them on adopting the engineering & geoscience information products that help advance research, teaching & learning. I also help design and deliver pathways to engage researchers, teachers and students to realise their full potential with the help of those information tools in classrooms and labs. My background in Economics, International Development Studies and Social Anthropology with research focus on education and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) allows me to place the current discourses in engineering education and the frontiers of applied engineering in the wider context of the socio-economic change we are pursuing.My superpower is the ability to combine qualitative & quantitative insights, map out the needs and concerns of various groups of stakeholders and come up with recommendations that bring everyone a step further in their endeavours.In case of engineering research the missing ingredients are: discoverability of information and availability of easy-to-use material property data. By showcasing the capabilities of engineering specific abstract and indexing databases based on controlled vocabulary and the ability to search numerically by property information, I help students and researchers understand what information tools are available for an efficient and effective literature review and how they can use those capabilities to stay up to date in their quickly progressing fields and refine their understanding of the big picture. I help engineering faculties create shortcuts to developing skills critical for successful career transitions into engineering, such as technical writing, project management and research skills. By equipping faculties with powerful reference & applied engineering information toolkit used by some of the most innovative companies out there I help put students on the path to growing the skills they most need.
