Addi is a Colombian fintech focused on transforming e-commerce in Latin America through an easy, and frictionless Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) initiative.As a Brazil Regulatory Manager, I was responsible for the processes to obtain licenses for the company act in Financial System in Brazil (such as SCD, Payment Institution, Pix, and Open Banking Participant, Due Diligences with players already acting in the regulated market). Along with the strategic responsibility, I supported the business in developing new products and conducting regulatory impact analysis.Using my previous experience in Regulatory Compliance, I become responsible for developing an initial Compliance structure. I wrote and reviewed policies, procedures, and processes – including AML and KY’s analysis – to prepare the company to become a regulated institution.

EBANX is a fintech from Curitiba that offers end-to-end payment solutions throughout the transaction process within e-commerces. In 2021, after the BACEN approval process, EBANX bought Juno.I continued working as a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator in the Payment Institution structure and received more responsibilities by integrating the Global Risk & Compliance team.I was responsible for all procedures related to the regulated institution – such as the ombudsman, inspections, recurring obligations, and requirements made by BACEN. I also was the focal point for all Payment Institution matters, including tech, product, risk, finance, and executive reports.I led key initiatives in gap analysis in regulatory and compliance systems, policies, and strategies, with recommendations for enhancements and operational improvements.I coordinated a five-member high-performance team composed of analysts from every seniority.

Juno is a Payment Institution authorized by the Central Bank since January 2020 and has become a complete digital account, developing innovative and unbureaucratic solutions for its customers. In 2021, after BACEN’s authorization, Juno was acquired by Ebanx.At the end of 2020, I left the legal department. I became officially part of the Compliance team, as a Coordinator of a three-member junior team, with a scope of Regulatory Compliance of a regulated entity.We faced Juno's first inspection, answered letters and requirements from BACEN, and organized the entire calendar of recurrent obligations. In addition, we worked closely with the Product, Tech, Risk, Fraud Prevention, and Finance teams to maintain all of Juno's products in compliance with the standards established by BACEN and related regulations.During this time, I also took responsibility for the ombudsman area and trained a junior analyst to answer all consumer demands.

In the middle of 2020, I became head of the legal department, working with a team of two experienced lawyers. During this time, while I kept working on regulatory affairs with exclusivity, I worked hard to prepare for the challenges of leadership and be ready to develop careers.

After the Central Bank approval, Juno became an authorized institution, and I started to work closely with the Compliance department to accomplish all the obligations of a regulated Payment Institution.Also, during this time, I worked side-by-side with Product and Tech teams to implement all the developments made possible by authorization (such as settlement account, own issuing of boletos, and transforming Juno into a complete digital account).

I was responsible for conducting the payment license application and acting as a point of contact with BACEN. As a result, Juno got the Central Bank’s approval after a quick nine-month process.As the only lawyer in-house, I also had the scope to create the legal department, organize the internal and external demands (such as Agreements, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy), and structure the litigation and counseling work.
