Having previously worked with JHU's Center for Talented youth as a Resident Assistant, I was very excited to spend my third summer with the camp program as a Teaching Assistant for a creative writing class. I worked closely with the two Writing and Imagination Teachers (I was assigned to two separate locations that summer) to develop curriculum and classroom procedure for the kids, whose ages ranged from eleven to thirteen. In this position, I earned the autonomy to implement my own creative lesson plans several times a week. For instance, I once made up various "notes" from strangers and hid them around the campus. After explaining the task at hand, I took the kids outside to hunt for their notes, which they then took back to the classroom and wrote a short story from the perspective of the "author."
