Leff, Department of Molecular Pharmacology,Stanford University Medical School.• Determined that stable expression of transfected SmN protein in HeLa and COS cells did not affect alternative splicing of transiently expressed calcitonin/CGRP mRNA in the cells.• Collaborated to show the maternal genomic imprinting of murine SnrpN.• Used single stranded conformational polymorphism analysis to define a polymorphism in the human SNRPN gene and used the polymorphism to show maternal genomic imprinting of human SNRPN.

Research assistant in the laboratory of Steven H. Herrmann, Division of Pediatric Oncology,Dana Farber Cancer Institute.• Used established protocols to purify a major histocompatability antigen (H-2Kk) and inserted the protein into P388D1 cells by fusion of H-2Kk containing liposomes to the cells. The modified P388D1 cells were recognized as targets and lysed by CTL.• Participated in a study showing a receptor-ligand interaction between Lfa-3 and CD2 using artificial cells generated with a nylon matrix coated with a lipid membrane.• Additional duties included ordering laboratory supplies, carrying cell lines, performing cytotoxic T lymphocyte assays, serine esterase assays, macrophage depletion of T lymphocytes, general laboratory organization and training of undergraduate students.
