My academic and professional experiences are primarily on K-12 education policies and finance. I currently serve as Chief of Legislative Affairs and Governmental Relations for LAUSD, California’s largest school district and our nation’s second largest. I previously served as a Legislative Advocate for the Association of California School Administrators, the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the United States, serving more than 17,000 educators, including superintendents and principals. As part of the Government Relations team, I advocated before the Legislature on a range of education policy issues including the state budget, accountability, early childhood education, and the implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula and the Local Control and Accountability Plan. I served as ACSA’s representative before the State Board of Education.Prior to joining ACSA, I served as the Director of Government Relations for the San Diego Unified School District, the second largest district in California. In this capacity, I advocated for sound policies and budgetary solutions to benefit K-12 public schools. In addition to my experience in education policy, I previously worked for the California State Treasurer's Office and lead the efforts of program development and implementation for new energy efficiency and renewable energy financial incentives within California.I previously served on the Board of Directors of various organizations, including the Stanford Alumni Association, the Sacramento Stanford Association, the Capital Fellows Alumni Association, the New Leaders Council-Sacramento Chapter and the California Latino Capitol Association.I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Stanford University.Specialties: Public finance.
