El Colombiano Media Group was divided in three business units in 2020. I am in charge, as a Publisher, of the main business: El Colombiano, the first regional newspaper in Colombia. This brand is 109 year old but has been in constant transformations since we agreed that transformation and technology have to be part of our ADN in 2011 when I started de media Innovation lab, ECOlab. El Colombiano has 140 contact points with our clients where only one is our print edition. This business is a responsable for 56% of the EBITDA of the group and ready for constant digital disruption.Some accomplishments:- Worked on the strategy development and implementation for a new business transformation based on an exercise we did with the consulting firm Upside.- Responsable for permanent innovation of the company and digital transformation through the ECOlab.- Designed a new organizational chart defining new roles, talents, processes and kpi´s base on the new company.- Lead a team of more than 100 people.- Built new relation with the audience: from free, to register to digital subscriber. I am fully committed with the business sustainability and growth, I lead my team to create every day the best multimedia stories and high quality journalism to serve our community, we are the main regional newspaper in Colombia. I am also de director of the innovation lab inside the company called ECOlab. I have been in charge of 3 strategic and disruptive changes to modernize the company into a digital environment and creative thinking. As chief editor with my team we:- Create multimedia content that make the brand relevant, younger and closer. According to focus group the brand feels 10 years younger and balances female/male identity.- Deliver good, innovative and profound journalism that is celebrated by the audience and the industry based on metrics of engagement and audience as well as national and international awards.- Increased print subscriptions and retention. Today we have the same circulation than 10 years ago.- Increased digital circulation on our web and social platforms.- Innovated with new products for legacy and new and younger audiences.- Structure a content agency inside the company to serve third parties. As a media Lab Director I created the lab and have led different teams in order to bring creative solutions to diverse challenges using design thinking methodology. Our purpose is allowing the company to keep in good shape its currents products/services, to create new business units, to diversify its portfolio and to allow growth & future. - Changed the logo of El Colombiano for its 100 anniversary.- New concept & design of the print editor of El Colombiano. Four awards at SND (Society Newspaper Design 2014 and three awards SND 2015).- Redesigned the website and mobile version of El Colombiano.- Redesigned "Gente" a neighborhood free newspaper by the same group.- Created el "Taller de Opinión" as a 360 project to involve university students with the brand and to build a society able to have smart debate.- Created "Candidatos Transparentes" a project to help Colombian citizen to make their political choices for different elections base on analysis. - Created "#mimejorclic" an open invitation to our audience to compete to have their pictures in our products in order to be create fun and new connections with them.- Develop a open redesign process with the public using our blog & twitter: "CIENtetuhuella"- New concept & design of LR (La República), economic newspaper. "Lapiz de Acero Award" 2011.- Developed "LR en la U" an idea to promote college students interact with the media.- Developed "Tertulias LR" an idea to bring great private conversation between leaders in Colombia to the audience as stories.
