My work involves the following activities:Close-to-realtime balancing- supporting Elia to maintain a balanced system despite a high penetration of renewables, by performing studies on wind ramps, mitigation of deterministic frequency deviations. - analyzing vRES ramps in large green hydrogen facilities (internationally), to support the decision making of the local grid architecture- developing a reserves sizing tool for international clients (mainly TSOs), to determine their aFRR and mFRR requirements- capacity building for a non-EU TSO regarding the European balancing platforms (PICASSO, MARI, IGCC)- participating in the ENTSO-E task force regarding large and sudden drops of vRES infeed in response to market or regulatory triggersGrid code compliance- Coordinating the technical conformity studies for new connections (PV/wind, synchronous generators, BESS, etc.) to the Elia network- Supporting the development of the grid code of a client in the Middle EastCapacity calculation- participating in the Balancing Timeframe Capacity Calculation Methodology project team for the Core region, on behalf of Elia and 50Hertz- determining the gaps for a number of non-EU Energy Community TSOs regarding their capacity calculation approach, relative to the requirements for joining SDAC

Participation in the following projects:CoolData: energy flexibility provision by data centers. Tasks included:- summarizing European legislation regarding aggregation and participation of demand response units in balancing markets.- identifying the main barriers towards energy flexibility provision by data centers.MarE-Fuel: electro-fuels (P2X) for long-range maritime transport. Tasks included: - research the costs of electricity for electro-fuel plants, based on an analysis of LCoE of self-production of the plants, as well as outlooks on electricity grid prices. - find data on global maritime transport, today and in the future.SuperP2G: modelling of power-to-gas integration into the European energy system. Tasks included: - estimating future H2 demands for different European countries. These values are used as input data into the energy system model Balmorel. LowWind: integration of low-wind-speed turbines into the Nordic power system. Tasks included: - Analysis and visualization of Balmorel energy model simulation results. - Creating mapping/graphing tools with Python, to display future electricity transmission capacities and other simulation results.
