Then in collaboration with clinical experts and BBI's team, he developed a technology-enabled strategy to make prevention a reality, at scale in the same year as deployment while also achieving significant cost savings at the payer and provider levels. Martin established and led the successful journey of BBI's SEM Scanner through FDA de novo Marketing Authorization (2018), CE Marking (2013) and the UK's National Institute of Health and Care Excellence' (NICE) Medical Innovation Briefing process (MIB 182, 2019). The device is the only FDA Authorized technology for the assessment of skin and tissue at risk for PI development; Authorization created the FDA's classification for Pressure Ulcer/Injury Management Tools. The Scanner is widely commercially globally through our distribution partner ARJO (www.arjo.com).Martin is co-author of publications on the health-economics of pressure ulcer prevention. He is the inventor of 217 issued, pending or filed patents (as of July 2020).
