Bruin Biometrics LLC was founded in 2009 through a technology license from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a relentless commitment to using technology to improve the way that health care is delivered. We apply rigorous scientific, technical and clinical standards to drive product development and address unmet and urgent clinical needs. Our pipeline is comprised of solutions for wound care, orthopedic care and real-time data capture, analytics and reporting. Leveraging Bruin Biometrics LLC passive sensor technology, our portable devices produce actionable data for evidence-based assessment. Our mission is to modernize care pathways through developing and collaboratively integrating new-to-the-world biometric-sensor based medical devices. Our lead product is Provizio® SEM Scanner, the first hand-held wireless scanner with intelligence inside, for fast and easy PI/PU risk assessments and the only SEM Scanner that acts as an adjunct to routine clinical skin assessment on the sacrum and heels. Digitally enhancing the patient care pathway with built-in data transfer for enhanced pressure injury/ulcer insight and risk identification on admission and five days* earlier than visual skin assessment (Oknonkwo H., et al 2020) regardless of skin tone (Bates Jensen B., et al 2009).
