My first 'real' job after I left college lasted 10 years and saw me promoted through the ranks of the I.T. department to Computer Operations Supervisor. However, 10 years with one company is a long time and the travel bug within me was itching to get out. After travelling around the French Alps for 5 months I briefly returned to the UK before backpacking around the world for a year. Returning to the UK, I gained qualifications which allowed me a foothold into the travel industry. However, I still maintained a strong link to I.T. and worked for over 6 years as a Network Controller for a large travel agency and then a Business Development Manager for a niche travel software development company.In 2009, I left the world of work for 3 years to help bring up my 3 children, gain a 1st class honours degree and I also became a part-time Badminton England coach!Returning to full-time work in 2012, I worked on front-line support and within the customer success dept of a local software company, which was then acquired by my current employer.I now have over 7 years' experience as a project manager, proactively monitoring and controlling service team performance against a plan. This includes liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to help successfully deliver and implement GRC (governance, risk and compliance) projects for a variety of industries in the public and private sector.
