My academic clinical practice specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of epilepsy and general neurology. I am board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and epilepsy monitoring. I am particularly interested in 1.) The evaluation and treatment of myoclonic epilepsies and 2.) preoperative mapping of epileptic foci for surgical resection. My research laboratory focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of epileptogenesis and ictogenesis and the molecular pharmacology of antiepileptic therapies. I am particularly interested in how epilepsy-associated mutations alter the biochemistry of their gene products and how this altered biochemistry affects neuronal cell biology and physiology.Specialties: anxiety, apoptosis, biochemistry, cell biology, confocal fluorescence microscopy, depression, EEG, epilepsy surgery, evoked potentials, flow cytometry, genetics, ictal SPECT, intracranial EEG, juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, membrane proteins, migraine headache, molecular biology, neuron culture, neuroscience, patch-clamp electrophysiology, pharmacology, proteasome, responsive neurostimulation (Neuropace), RT-PCR, transgenic mice, vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), virus
Listed skills include Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Confocal Microscopy, Clinical Trials, and 25 others.
