R.G.C. Jenkins & Co is a firm of European Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. As the most senior manager I provide the partners with specialist HR advice as well as managing the HR and business operations of the firm. I am accountable to the 10 equity partners of the firm. I lead a team of 7 direct reports and have indirect management responsibility for all staff (c 80).

RadcliffesLeBrasseur is a firm of solicitors with a strong reputation in commercial property, litigation and medical negligence. Reporting to the Head of HR, I was responsible for the whole range of HR services to partners, professional and support staff. A key part of the role had been to manage the merger, integration and harmonisation process with Le Brasseur J Tickle, a medical negligence firm that merged with Radcliffes in 2001.

I set up the HR function for Le Brasseur J Tickle, a long established and well respected firm, primarily known for their medical negligence expertise. The firm comprised 27 partners, 49 solicitors and 55 support staff with offices in London, Leeds and Cardiff. I was responsible for establishing a new HR function across the whole firm by delivering strategic projects such as setting up an HR infrastructure, introducing a new performance management system and bringing greater consistency and professionalism to operational issues such as recruitment, disciplinary and other employee management matters.
