I served in that capacity full time upon graduation through 2005. I was selected as the first Sector Chaplain in June of 2005 and served there until May of 2007. I continued serving as a chaplain in collateral duty status until my retirement in October of 2012. I specialized in Pastoral Care in Crisis Response. Assisting our agents and staff in Critical Incidents and Crisis ie. On Duty Death, Death of family, Hospitalizations and Family issues. I also administered the Program/Office of the Family Support Unit which I conceived, wrote and presented to management for the care and support of our employees. A program that I presented across the country to other Border Patrol Sectors.

I served our agents and support personnel as a representative in labor and disciplinary actions. I provided steward training. I also managed the labor-management relationship meetings with the Chief Patrol Agent and his staff. I filed grievances and unfair labor practice complaints with the Federal Labor Relations Board.

I served our deputies as a Vice-President on the Board of Directors. I negotiated the first and second labor contract with the county commissioners. Securing the deputies jobs and subsequently a raise in wages on a two year contract where there was a three percent the first year of the contract and then a ten percent raise the second year.
