Martina Ban has over eighteen years of experience in securing funding for, and implementing, development projects internationally. With a track record as a problem solver and team builder, Martina is highly regarded for her ability to quickly size up a situation, identify needs and priorities, and provide clear guidance and leadership. As a Director in the front office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at FHI 360, Martina is supporting organization-wide initiatives to ensure that FHI 360 programs are effectively run and of the highest technical quality. Prior to moving into a corporate leadership position, Martina played a key role in FHI 360's Civil Society and Peace Building Department (CSPD) - formerly AED’s Center for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) - for eight years, where she led CSPD business development efforts while simultaneously managing personnel, financial, and administrative matters. Between 2004-2012, Martina helped to manage and expand CSPD’s work in institutional capacity development, civic engagement, peace, and good governance in over 20 countries. Demonstrating her strong change management skills, Martina guided CSPD through periods of exceptional growth as well as through the difficult period following AED’s suspension, sale and transition to FHI 360, ensuring the successful implementation of CSPD programs and the financial health and stability of the Department. Martina began her career as a business development specialist assisting leading European firms in capitalizing on opportunities in health, education, environment, energy, municipal services, sanitation, and transportation sectors, mainly with Multilateral Lending Agencies such as the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank.
