My litigation career started in the sixth grade when I auditioned for the school choir and the choir director, Mr. Tapp, said, "Martin, I think you are tone deaf but you seem kind of smart so we are sticking you on the debate team." I have been advocating ever since. Over my thirty years of litigation experience, I have been involved in all manner of litigation in all types of forums. But my approach has always been the same -- "Focus on Damages." I wrote a treatise on damages and have always been fascinated by the process of constructing (or destroying sometimes) a damages model. I have been fortunate to litigate some unusual cases in addition to thousands of pieces of business litigation: handling class actions for the homeless and ending up in a John Grisham novel, getting thirty inmates off Death Row in Maryland, helping force a college playoff system as the lead trial lawyer in the BCS Antitrust Case, working on the largest gold fraud case in history and many other interesting cases. In my mind, damages are tangible justice and I have worked tirelessly to garner justice for my clients.
