Martin is an Architect and the practice leader of Douglas and King Architects.Douglas and King Architects are a niche architectural practice delivering exceptional and credible projects currently working for larger housing developers, landowners and also maintaining a large client base of lay landowners and private sector developers.As design led Architectural Practice, Douglas and King grew up in Shoreditch, a formerly semi-derelict and leftover backwater which, during the 20 years in EC2, has undergone an amazingly successful culture led regeneration programme. As a consequence Douglas and King have built a large portfolio of completed design led projects. Early clients were not developers, investors or banks but were laypeople and owners of underdeveloped or semi derelict properties. People of little or no development experience whatsoever and who needed to be guided through a very complex process in terms of planning, construction, and occupation. As an Architect Martin had no choice but to lead the projects from the front, this meant employing the RIBA Plan of Work and managing the projects from start to finish around a sound and credible business model. Aligned with work in Shoreditch, Douglas and King exist to create the very best possible buildings for their clients and for the people who will live, work and experience the buildings created. Douglas and King live their work and have embraced new technologies and current thinking in things like Placemaking and socially responsible design.  The result is that Douglas and King are a Design Led office that is not frightened of leadership or commitment at all stages. The practice actively predicts opportunities, designs great buildings, and environments and knows how to build and inspire everyone involved in a project. Douglas and King understand how to get the best out of large teams. Douglas and King have lived through a regeneration boom, the delivery processes that evolved and deployed have been up scaled and been implemented on projects throughout London, the wider UK and internationally.
