To act as the Single Point of Accountability for UK engineering assets & projects and also Technical Authority for selected international projects.Responsibilities include:• Ensure that Safety Critical Elements are given the correct attention & scrutiny;• Ownership of Performance Standards;• Define the philosophy, strategy and standards for assets ensuring industry best practice(s) are incorporated for all lifecycle stages;• Maintain an overview of the safe & correct operation of system(s);• Approval of major equipment and systems selection;• Approval of operating procedures;• Carry the responsibility & authority for approval/rejection of deviations away from standards and maintenance/inspection strategies;• Technical input & functional review/approval of any change that could impact technical suitability;• Periodic review of the on-going suitability of an asset through appropriate means (e.g. audit) at field locations against standard compliance and assisting in follow-up;• Ownership of issues within specified area of accountability, including those raised by any regulator/3rd party;• Provide lead discipline incident investigation & technical support;• Provide guidance & approval of risk mitigating measures when standards are not met; and• Continuously seek to identify opportunities to improve safety so far as is reasonably practicable through improved processes, systems, equipment or technology.
