@martymtb42 I am an audience-focused writer, meticulous editor and pragmatic public relations strategist. I have served a state government agency, athletics organizations and non-profits. I earned accreditation in public relations (APR) in 2013. I promote responsible use and stewardship of natural resources, primarily through my employer’s bi-monthly magazine. I manage a talented, veteran magazine staff and graphics team. I counsel colleagues on how to develop, manage and target their messages. Previously I achieved sustained success in college athletics, working in sports information and publishing. I now tout parks instead of universities, and outdoor participant recreation instead of spectator sports. I also stay involved in athletics by officiating scholastic track meets. After collaborating with colleagues to create the concept, I am writing a series of collectible magazine inserts for Outdoor Indiana that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Indiana state parks. I emcee my employer’s annual statewide awards program. I have won numerous Toastmasters speech contests and judged many others. I have served as my club’s president, vice president-education and vice president-membership. While with the NCAA’s publishing arm, I handled national committee and playing-rules administration and coordinated media coverage of basketball, lacrosse and wrestling national championships. I helped college athletics leaders navigate NCAA structure. My editing projects included rules books, record books, graduation rates reports, the sports medicine handbook and other national publications. I wrote the annual feature on the winner of the NCAA’s most prestigious award for The NCAA News. As a consultant, I edited the NCAA’s 100th anniversary history book and wrote features.
