I am responsible for ensuring that the plant remains compliant with regards to the key legislative and internal governance requirements (with a particular focus on health, safety and environmental aspects). My role reflects the greater emphasis on HSE within the company, in particular ensuring that key compliance requirements are met and there is evidence to demonstrate this. I have recently taken on additional security responsibilities and I also act in an advisory capacity in the management of Chemistry/ Water Treatment.Achievements1. I have developed a Compliance Management System for the Rocksavage Plant which links regulatory compliance requirements with site procedures and compliance records2. I have developed an on-line site induction and training system to enable contractors to view the induction on-line via their mobile phone and take a test prior to coming to site - this has been rolled out to all InterGen sites3. I developed a programme for prevention of dropped objects called 'Stop The Drop' - this is being shared with other power generators

Responsible for managing the water treatment and chemistry in an 808 MW Combined Cycle gas fired power plant. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager I also combined this position with the role of site HSE Co-ordinator. This involved a split between Chemistry and HSE which I achieved by working in close partnership with the Water Treatment service Provider (Nalco) and a site based service chemist to help manage the chemistry activities. In my role as HSE co-ordinator I was responsible for compliance with legal obligations and meeting InterGen Corporate requirements. I also developed and rolled out training courses, carried out root cause accident investigations, organised off site safety days and developed an annual HSE improvement programme. I helped interGen to become the first site globally to achieve ISO14001/ OHSAS18001 certificationDuring outages I adapted my HSE role to enable me to become the key point of contact for the Client, Principle Contractor and all other contractors in line with the principles of the CDM Regs 2007. This model has now been taken up globally by the parent company (InterGen).
