The network currently focuses on improving health and literacy, as well as enrichment experiences like STEM and the arts, with an emphasis on filling gaps and serving those most at-risk in our state.

• Elevated the organization’s visibility by developing partnerships with The History Channel, Black Entertainment Television, The PGA, and celebrities such as Jane Pauley and Mark Wahlberg. Developed national programs on workplace wellness, depression and obesity in women of color, mental health issues for military families, and best practices in prevention. • Led fundraising strategy and team, generating more than $13 million annually and increasing corporate donations and grants by more than 60%. Supervised a national toll-free Resource Center serving 58,000 people per year, and a bookstore generating more than $100,000 in annual revenue,• Conducted advocacy trainings, mobilized coalitions and provided technical assistance on mental health appropriations, managed care reform, Medicaid, Medicare, SCHIP, and medication issues. Efforts resulted in the passage of many parity laws, implementation of ombudsman programs, and amendments to state RFPs and contracts.

Tenaciously negotiated with the Fortune 500, insurance industry and federal and state government agencies on economic issues of interest to 35,000-member physician trade group. Created practice management tools and business development resources for members. Launched a national Managed Care Help Line for psychiatrists and their patients, including persuading third party payers and state health and mental health agencies to implement reforms based on identified trends in caller data.

Facilitated the development of level-of-care criteria, practice guidelines, and policy platforms for 7,500 member physician trade association. Provided consultation to members on the business aspects of their practices and effectively negotiated policy changes with managed care organizations and pharmaceutical benefits managers on their behalf.

Oversaw proposal development, generating and retaining more than 30 corporate and public sector accounts. Produced beneficiary education and communication materials for clients and third party payers.

Managed, researched and presented business strategy studies for a 450-member, for-profit hospital association on contracting with managed care entities, marketing, and responding to the nursing shortage.

Launched consumer opinion surveys on the quality of hospitals and health plans, including designing survey instruments, managing telemarketing staff, performing statistical analyses, and presenting results to clients.
