I lead the People Science team at Indeed where we provide rigorous insights to help make Indeed the best place to work and thrive. My team provides a wide range of analyses to support the design and assess the impact of people initiatives and we run the employee listening program. From modeling compensation programs to inform guidelines for discretionary bonuses to developing tools in RShiny that encourage equitable decision making, we strive to build analytical solutions that enable success of key people initiatives. We partner with senior leaders, program managers, and initiative owners as well as Legal, DEIB+, and Data Governance to define research needs, set timelines, and ensure all of our work adheres to high standards for responsible data use. We also coauthor communications content to ensure employees understand how and where their data are used and build trust in our methodology. After earning my PhD in Human Resources and Labor Relations with a concentration in empirical microeconomics, I spent the first 14 years of my career as a traditional academic. As a Professor of Economics at UW La Crosse and Associate Director of the Retirement and Disability Research Center at UW Madison's Center for Financial Security, my research focused on retirement, aging, and long-term care. I also developed an analytics minor and a series of workshop teaching working professionals to use R. My years of service on the Institutional Review Board (IRB) inform how I think about responsible use of employee data in my current role and the respect for the humans behind the numbers I cultivate on my team.I am passionate about translating quantitative research into clear visual stories and impactful reports for all audiences. I demand extreme clarity of myself and my team when presenting even the most technical models. Nearly 20 years of experience teaching data skills to both traditional college students and adult learners gives me a distinct edge in achieving this goal.
