About Mary Ward

History of what led me into my work Neuro- Path Integrative Therapy, "The Missing Link". While completing my Masters, a professor presented information about her PhD in Cherokee communities related to youth pregnancy. She also elaborated on an empowerment experiential program occurring in the communities. Passion drove me toward interest in the experiential empowerment program. A valued key for me was in participator dynamics to enhance ways of helping people. I challenged faculty to allow my internship out there since my bachelor's internship was already thorough per clinical in an office environment. They accepted this request. I met with those Cherokee leaders and convinced them of my humble intentions. It took two months to arrange. This fed my effort to connect with many families and start an experiential program, write stories on NativeAmerican artists, and engage some in political concerns. A valuable experiential learning process that also fed wonderful bond with those I met along the way. Next, I pursued EMDR trainings that I saw as another form of experiential engagement for helping in an office setting. I received EMDR11 certification which added a start in skills that fed me moving into other work. With years of fine tuning, my personal designed templates are set up to accommodate diverse situations with clients. I also started a PhD in 2003. Unfortunately, my mother became ill and as the only adult child close by, it was necessary to stop that process close to the middle. However, my emphasis on 35 page research papers was focused on more experiential, neuro scientific, and other studies in relation to Psychology. Despite inability to finish my PhD, continued improvement of approaches, as well as ongoing study of updated scientific research still occurs today. My therapy, Neuro-Path Integrative Therapy, is a cohesive emphasis on experiential work which appears as more comprehensive than talk therapy alone. Primary is approaches/techniques to instill emphasis toward the experience of change. Key is the priority that clients leave feeling better after each session no matter what. My previous background was also in sales, consulting, as well as writing and some marketing. Little did I know that those skills would contribute, as well, towards the direction of my fine tuned work today.Key to me is "Look beyond" and seek new opened door ideas that lead to improved abilities for self and for helping others. A passionate way to continue instilled movement within life. A win win!

My knowledge with looking at metaphysical aspects of experience associated with Psychology has been in the forefront. For over twenty years study of Neuroscience, Microbiology, Epigenetics, concepts from Quantum Physics, and other scientific work, has been my primary sought after direction. And finding ways to integrate that knowledge into my work has been and still is powerful. Thus, my emphasis has been on "body and mind" as one. During the process of obtaining a Masters, I challenged the University toward acceptance of completing the internship within an experiential program of empowerment for Cherokee communities. Key was passion in extending more experience outside of the clinical office to broaden my said knowledge. This proved to be more powerful, which led to my increased search into integration of experience through growing and empowerment. I started my PhD in 2003, with emphasis on how we experience the "Brain and body" from Neuroscientific and Microbiological findings.Unfortunately my mother's illness had to stop almost 1/2 through. However. I continue to keep up with studies until today. Sought after EMDR 1 and 11. as well, was another attempt toward my search for out of the box directions. An opened door to fine attuned effort toward enhancement in helping people. Over the years, my work has improved, and still is improving, on self designed templates to implement with the process of clearing out said obstacles blocking people from moving foreward. This along with decrease of resistance with such changes. That along with years of trainings in other cognitive approaches, as well as enhancement in new ideas to increase more progress in helping, has shown value and quicker progress for clients.Despite being so aware of the "Brain and Body" connection for years with emphasis on the bodies memory more, I am pleased to see that now we are finally there with research. Wonderful times.

Deliberately worked in Stilwell motivated be an internship with Wilma Mankiller's Husband per experiential work in Cherokee Communities. Convinced OU to allow this for the internship since I had already had a qualified clinical internship for my BSW at KU. Out of this experience , while working in that area, I organized activities based on experiential concepts in one of the worst Cherokee Communities. It took at least a year to develop relationships. Continued home based clinical work while organizing said activities. However, had to resign from my clinical position, as well as this community work, due to having a car accident that led into a year of being bed ridden. The experience from that time assisted in a foundation of my focus on experiential clinical therapy, as well as, value in humanness while doing clinical therapy.
