While at White Sands Treatment Center, Mary provided care to patients in a 75-bed residential dual-diagnosis treatment facility. She assisted with patient intake assessments, assessed psychological and physiological changes in condition, and created aggressive and effective treatment plans to manage psychiatric conditions. Mary and her team also worked in deescalating potentially violent situations with the use of verbal redirection and active listening. They provided emergency care for medical and psychiatric conditions and coordinated care between inpatient and outpatient facilities to decrease the probability of relapse for psychiatric conditions.

Working with teams within Lee Health and throughout the community, Mary manages the care of patients through their recovery by providing medication-assisted therapy (MAT), resources for support groups and therapies, and ensures that patients receive outstanding, personalized care on a case-by-case basis. She also works with leaders throughout Lee Health to educate providers on addiction and implement new programs and treatment plans to decrease hospital readmission rates related to substance use through education and harm reduction.

While at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center, Mary monitored post-operative and critical care patients and promoted proper healing with the use of medication and physical therapies and worked alongside senior leadership to improve patient experience and quality outcomes. In her role as the interim weekend supervisor, she supervised nursing staff and other employees throughout various shifts. Mary served as a liaison between clinical staff and patients and their families to ensure patient satisfaction. She also trained employees on the implementation of new EMAR systems and designed new workflow processes.
