Greater Nashville Area, Tn

Mary's work includes Greensboro North, which is designed as a walkable village that will capitalize on its proximity to Volunteer State and its location along the future Northeast Corridor transit line connecting Gallatin to Downtown Nashville. This Transit Ready Development (TRD) is envisioned as a distinctive community with a strong sense of place. It will accommodate a vertical mix of uses including commercial, office, a variety of housing options and twenty percent open space. In February 2012, the Specific Plan for Greensboro North TRD was unanimously approved by the Gallatin City Council.

Freelance and consulting work including planning, design, construction detailing, research, reports, and presentations to community leaders and residents. Example project: Low Impact Development Guideline for The Nature Conservancy Duck River Office.Bass Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Design elements of the park include cisterns, rain gardens, porous pavement, and community gardens. Responsibilities include leading the project through community public meetings and the Metro Parks Department’s approval process.

Managing planning and landscape architecture projects; responsibilities include master planning, streetscape designs and regulatory document updates. Organizing and leading public meetings. Creating illustrations and supporting text for comprehensive and transportation planning updates, designing neighborhood revitalization plans, low impact developments (LID), utilizing context sensitive solutions (CSS) principles, and providing zoning and subdivision regulation updates. Example project: Creating a revitalization plan for a 500ac area in downtown Columbia, Tennessee, involving design of street sections as part of the transportation improvements in the community.
