During masters program, worked as substitute teacher in grades K-12. Recognized for ability to work effectively with students with learning problems. Private tutoring practice came out of this as I worked mostly with students with learning problems (especially ADD). At the same time I generated consulting opportunities where I worked with various organizations in a variety of capacities: proposal writing, training how to conduct meetings, and using small groups to help employees cope with corporate merger and job insecurity.

Systems Consultant (1988-1991)Sales and technical support for national account. Conducted educational seminars, and project planning workshops. Analyzed, designed, proposed, and implemented complex network solutions at multiple client sites. Required high level communication skills, creative problem solving skills, and technical expertise to design a nationwide disaster recovery system. Marketing Staff Manager (1985 – 1988)Served as leader of strategic planning committee that designed marketing programs and supported nine regional offices of AT&T. Created a liaison position at each regional office and national headquarters and served as their consultant. This liaison position was so successful that it was endorsed by headquarters and implemented by all other regions. Designed and led a three-day conference to help employees in the newly created position quickly build their expertise in direct marketing and telemarketing – key elements of their job. Designed operational reviews for each of the nine regional offices and led a six-member team to conduct the reviews with the purpose of opening up dialogue between the regional offices and headquarters as well as consulting to make improvements in their sales and training goals. Telemarketing Account Executive (1983 – 1985)Responsible for an account base of $8.2 million while growing it 12%. I was a telecommunication business consultant, helping my accounts develop and implement strategies for growing their small business by using voice and data telecommunications. Temporarily promoted to sales manager to six account executives. Selected for an honorary committee where I designed and implemented a regional recognition program to motivate 1500 union workers while increasing sales.
