I am a qualitative researcher and analyst looking to meld my passions for socioeconomic justice work, people, and environmentalism with linguistics and language/s in general. I enjoy studying languages for fun and my main research interests and skills lie in natural language understanding, sociophonetics and language analysis, political discourse analysis, language policy, accessibility of knowledge, plain language, and gatekeeping. I am currently in the market for employment in a position working in research, advocacy, stakeholder communications, and/or storytelling, preferably for a mission-driven organization. When not at work you'll find me hanging out with my roommates and friends, playing guitar, Animal Crossing, and Zelda BOTW, reading, rotating between studying 11 different languages, or watching Girls, lately.I grew up in Northern Virginia and received a B.A. in Linguistics at the College of William & Mary. I have a background in phonetics (the sounds we make) and phonology (how we understand those sounds) research as a research assistant on three projects in undergraduate. In my Master’s I pivoted to sociolinguistics, honing my critical discourse analysis and qualitative researcher skills in coursework and as a graduate research assistant working toward a conference presentation. After teaching English in Vienna, Austria for two years with Fulbright Austria throughout the pandemic, I returned to graduate school to pursue my research interests and passions, to prepare me to meld these items in a career setting.Skilled in analytics, theoretical linguistics, phonetics, phonology, language acquisition, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, phonetic and discourse analytic transcription, English grammar, and German language and grammar.
